About the Rooster
The Rooster is the tenth animal in the Chinese zodiac, and it crossed the Great Race with two good friends. In the legend, the Rooster, the Goat, and the Monkey discovered a small raft and floated across the wide river together. The Rooster helped spot the way and cheered the team along, and the three of them reached the far shore as a group. The Rooster stepped off proudly to take tenth place.
People born in the Year of the Rooster are confident, hardworking, and like to wake up bright and early. A Rooster is proud of doing a job well, loves to look its best, and is honest about what it thinks.
When you color your Rooster, follow the bold feathers and the splendid comb on its head. Those fanning shapes are made for jianzhi (剪纸), the Chinese art of paper-cutting, where artists snip showy patterns from folded paper for festivals. Try brilliant reds, oranges, and golds for the feathers, the colors of sunrise and good luck in China.
