About the Goat

The Goat is the eighth animal in the Chinese zodiac, and it did not cross the Great Race alone. In the legend, the Goat, the Monkey, and the Rooster found a small raft and worked together to float across the wide river. They pushed and paddled as a team through the reeds and currents, sharing the work the whole way. When they reached the shore, the gentle Goat stepped off to take eighth place.

People born in the Year of the Goat are kind, calm, and creative. A Goat loves peaceful days, pretty things, and being part of a caring group. It would much rather share and help than push to be first.

When you color your Goat, look at the soft, curling shapes of its wool. Those gentle swirls come from jianzhi (剪纸), the Chinese art of paper-cutting, where artists snip delicate patterns from folded paper for festivals. Try creamy whites and soft greens like a grassy hillside, then add a red border around the design, the color of luck and celebration in China.
